Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan Tarafdar

Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan Tarafdar is one   of the eminent Otolaryngologists of the country and a pride of Habigonj district . He was born in 1957. His ancestral home is in Baliari villof Bangladesh policeage of Chunarughat upazila under Habiganj district. His father is late Nasir Uddin Tarafder, who was serving in forest department being a Range Officer and was a pious, very social and well reputed personality.
His mother is late Syeda Sirajunnesa Khanom, who was a housewife belonging a pious and spiritual family background.
Dr. Kamrul Hasan Tarafder has seven siblings . He is the first child of his parents. His siblings are Rezaul Hasan Tarafder ( Shahin) an Additional S.P of Bangladesh Police, Abdullah Al Hasan Tarafder
( Tuhin) living in Liverpool,  Shariful Hasan Tarafder. Living in Manchester, United Kingdom, Ariful Hasan Tarafder (Arif) living in Dhaka, Ziaul Hasan Tarafder ( Mahin) lives in Habigonj town and engaged in business and responsible to look after  family assets. His sister Nahida Bilkis Tarafder and Fahmida Bilkis Tarafder are immigrant of the U S A. They have been residing there happily with their families.
Professor Tarafder’s spouse Mrs.Farhana Chowdhury is a qualified , gentle and caring lady with sincere responsibilities for her family.
Charitable Activities and Achievement:
In addition to the medical profession and from his feeling of social responsibilities, Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan Tarafder is involved in various charitable activities. Few of them are mentioned below.
  1. Immediate after sad demise of his father, his family established a Orphanage named Nasirul Ulum Yeatimkhana , which was established at Mirpur, Dhaka and in remembrance of his beloved father. At present this orphanage is re-located at Birulia, Savar, Dhaka at own purchased land. Construction of 1st floor of the orphanage is under construction.
  2. Established   a charitable organization named Tarafdar Foundation,  which is working for the welfare of the people of Habiganj district.
    This foundation ,during COVID-19 pandemic donated Oxygen Cylinders in 2020 at Chunarughat Upazila Health Complex. In 2021 donated Oxygen Concentrator and Oxygen Cylinders  also , which was received by respected Deputy Commission and Civil Surgeon of Habigonj.
    Tarafder Foundation also managing Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage in own village established by his late grandfather-in-law.  At present there are 12 students and it’s planned to make this orphanage big one and increase number of students .
    It’s also in his plan to establish and operate a Dispensary in the village as the local patients can purchase the best quality life saving medicines at  purchase- cost, not at MRP. Most ultra-poor patients will get few free medicines in need from that dispensary.
  3. He often organize  health camps in the locality, where a group of 50-60 doctors with different specialty and of different disciplines . Doctors provide day-long primary heath care services and heal  different types of diseases of mentionable numbers of patients gathered in each health camp. Few numbers of doctors also provide services on the next day even .The poor patients get treated without cost and also gets some medicines free of cost.
    In the medical camps, an announcement often made as — “ List the names and address ,those who are eligible to receive zakat, you will be given free Cataract surgery”.  Numerous enlisted patients have been given free Cataract operation in the camps during last few years.
  4. Professor Dr.Kamrul Hasan Tarafdar has an Oncology Center in Dhaka, which provides free chemotherapy to the hardcore poor patients and in a relatively low cost in some cases. A significant number of cancer patients have already been given free and low-cost chemotherapy.
  5. In Dhaka, he has also set up a clinic for lip-slicing patients, where low-cost and miserable treatment is given to the poor and needy at no cost.  So far a significant number of patients have been provided free and low cost lip-smacking treatment.
  6. Being elected President of Habigonj Association , Dhaka he is committed to be always with all respected Executive Members of this organization with his all possible efforts and supports in implementing objectives of this organization.
  7. His plan is to go forward all together with collective efforts and support from all respected experienced, capable, solvent and kind citizens of Habigonj district { residing home and abroad) ,to make changes in the lives of needy and deprived people of 9(nine ) upazilas of Habigonj.
  8. He is the Convenor of Habigonj Heart Foundation, which is going to be established with kind and possible support from respected citizens of Habigonj district .
